Recipe Changes for The Honest Kitchen
Dehydrated Whole Foods for Pets
The Honest Kitchen makes human grade pet foods from dehydrated whole food ingredients. Dehydration is a slow process that just removes the water from fresh, raw ingredients. That means their foods are a concentrated source of nutrition, and all you have to do is add the water back when you’re ready to serve each meal. A 10lb box of dehydrated Honest Kitchen pet food will make about 40 lbs of fresh food, once rehydrated! Their foods are produced right alongside (and on the same equipment as) foods that humans eat, to ensure the very highest production standards are used at all times.
And with winter approaching, it sure is nice to give our pets a warm bowl of food on a cold morning & evening.
The Honest Kitchen has a couple minor changes to two of their recipes:
Verve: Beef is now the #1 ingredient! We’ve increased the Beef and reduced the percentage of Rye. This changed resulted in slightly higher protein and fat (22.5% and 8.5%, respectively). While this change is recent, if you weren’t aware we also removed peppermint from Verve over a year ago, and we’ve heard that Verve is more palatable than ever!
Zeal: We’re replacing Green Beans with Pumpkin. Pumpkin is a popular ingredient that’s excellent for digestive health. This ingredient will also help to thicken the recipe after re-hydration to create a consistency similar to other Honest Kitchen foods. The change will happen in the December batch of food, affecting all Lot codes dated 12-2011 and after.
Help your dog have a calmer, safer Halloween celebration with Canine Calm
Halloween can be a great time for people, but stressful for most dogs. The doorbell ringing over & over, tiny monsters walking around and screams of delight can all be pretty terrifying for your pooch—and not in a good way!
Canine Calm by Earth Heart Inc. can help your dog stay calm and safe this time of year.
Halloween offers families many opportunities for celebration. Whether you’re attending a Halloween dog party, taking your dog trick or treating, or just welcoming trick-or-treaters to your home, the busy activities, sights, sounds, and smells of the season can be stressful for the family dog.
Dogs can experience restlessness, drooling, panting, hyperactivity, and whimpering as a result of Halloween activities. Although there has been a growing trend among veterinarians to prescribe anti-anxiety medications for nervous dogs, there are natural solutions to help dogs cope with stress associated with Halloween activities.
Earth Heart Inc., offers one of those natural remedies. Canine Calm was created 12 years ago to help calm dogs while kenneled. Vicki Rae Thorne, Earth Heart’s founder, receives positive feedback from customers on a weekly basis about the effectiveness of Canine Calm.
Over 95% of our customers have reported a soothing effect on their dogs during holiday excitement as well as thunderstorms, fireworks, travel, competition, adoptions and other unsettling times, ” says Thorne. “They appreciate a safe natural product that is easy to use, works quickly, and smells good!”
Canine Calm can help dogs suffering from the stress of Halloween activities.
Canine Calm is formulated with all natural ingredients, including pure essential oils, such as lavender, tangerine and geranium that have been traditionally used in remedies for relaxation. Canine Calm is made in the USA and packaged in a BPA free spray bottle. The ready to use spray is easy to use, won’t stain or leave a sticky residue on materials or fur, and can safely be sprayed and rubbed onto the dog’s ear tips and abdomen, or directly onto bedding or clothing and inside the car or travel crate. Canine Calm is a family friendly product, and is safely diluted for use with puppies as young as eight weeks old.
