This Week’s Adoptable Pet

The lucky family that adopts this pet featured here on our blog will receive a coupon from Lakeland good for a “congratulations” gift bag from End of the Leash!

To learn more about how to adopt through Lakeland, please visit their adoption page.  You may also give them a call at 262.723.1000.

Mai Tai from Lakeland is featured here today.Greet Mai Tai as you come through the doors at the Lakeland shelter. She’s looking for her forever home!

Mai Tai is an 8 year old purebred Tortie Point Siamese. She came from a breeder’s house with over 45 Siamese and Bengal cats. Because of the terrible conditions and lack of care in the house, Tai has periodic upper respiratory infections and needs medication from time to time.

One thing that might grab your attention is the fact that Tai has no teeth. We had to have them all pulled and now she is on a canned food only diet. Interested in meeting our Mai Tai? Come to the shelter, she will be the first and last kitty you see—her home is in our front office!

Nail Clinic at EOTL Pewaukee

Starting September 8th, our Pewaukee EOTL location will be hosting a nail clinic the second Saturday of every month!  Barkin’ Up Hickory Boarding & Grooming, also of Pewaukee, will be providing the nail clinic service at our store.  Mark your calendars!

The Importance of Good Gut Health

You may have heard of “leaky gut syndrome”…but did you know this disease can afflict your dog or cat as well?

In this video from Mercola Healthy Pets, Dr. Karen Becker speaks about leaky gut syndrome (aka dysbiosis) in our pets and the host of (many times) unexplained issues and diseases that may result from an unhealthy GI tract.  She discusses how antibiotics, prednisone, NSAIDs, diet factors and stress may cause imbalances in our pets’ gut flora and how, with the help of your veterinarian, changing to a species-appropriate diet and supplementing with probiotics can help improve your pet’s overall health!

Rather read the information?  Click here to download the video transcript.  You may also visit the Mercola Healthy Pets website for a complete synopsis and web forum for discussion.

Have a safe and fun holiday weekend!
