Kitty Home Alone?  Not a Good Idea

You never know what they might get into while you're away...

You never know what they might get into while you're away...

Dr. Becker writes, "Over half of U.S. cat owners feel it’s fine to leave their feline companions alone at home while they’re away. And while it’s true most kitties don’t require the same level of attention dogs do, leaving a cat home for days with no one to check on her can backfire."

Why Socialization is so Important

Dog 015.jpg

"A well-socialized puppy is one that has been handled from birth and accepts touching of all body parts; has been exposed to a wide range of people, other animals, places and situations; has been encouraged to explore and investigate his environment; and has been allowed to experience a variety of toys and games, surfaces and other stimuli."

If you have, or are considering, a new puppy, please read this article from Dr. Becker on how to give him or her the best chance at becoming a well-behaved adult!

This Week's Adoptables from HAWS

The lucky family that adopts one of the pets featured here on our blog will receive a coupon from HAWS good for a “congratulations” gift bag from End of the Leash!

To learn more about how to adopt through HAWS, please visit their adoption page.  You may also give them a call at 262.542.8851.

Snowball is a fun-loving bunny boy and has been at HAWS eighteen months.

While everyone here is head-over-heels in love with Snowball, we would much rather see him in a loving forever home!

He loves people, especially ones who will pet him. :)  For adoption info, please call HAWS at 262.542.8851.

Cider came to HAWS as a stray.  We don't know much about her background, but we believe her to be about 7 years young and a Pit Bull mix.

Cider is a sweet little girl. She spent time with the Winter Kids 'N Critters Camp - and everyone had a blast! The wonderful volunteers in HAWS' Mod Squad have also been working with her and say she is smart and eager to learn.

Cider should do well with another dog, but not so much with cats!!
