Dr. Karen Becker and Dr. Steve Raabe will be speaking at the HAWS 3rd Annual Winter Symposium and the proceeds benefit the behavioral department at HAWS!!!
As most of you know, our staff has attended many seminars from Dr. Karen Becker on food and nutrition. She is a fantastic, engaging speaker who uses humor and plain speaking to show you the best ways to optimize your pet's health.
Dr. Raabe from Prairie Animal Hospital will be teaching about the use of acupuncture and Chinese herbs and the ways they benefit your pet's well being.
Hurry to take advantage of this opportunity to hear them for yourself! Registration is limited and fee for the whole day is $65. Click this link for more info and to register.
Kitty Home Alone? Not a Good Idea
Dr. Becker writes, "Over half of U.S. cat owners feel it’s fine to leave their feline companions alone at home while they’re away. And while it’s true most kitties don’t require the same level of attention dogs do, leaving a cat home for days with no one to check on her can backfire."

Why Socialization is so Important
"A well-socialized puppy is one that has been handled from birth and accepts touching of all body parts; has been exposed to a wide range of people, other animals, places and situations; has been encouraged to explore and investigate his environment; and has been allowed to experience a variety of toys and games, surfaces and other stimuli."
If you have, or are considering, a new puppy, please read this article from Dr. Becker on how to give him or her the best chance at becoming a well-behaved adult!
This Week's Adoptables from HAWS
The lucky family that adopts one of the pets featured here on our blog will receive a coupon from HAWS good for a “congratulations” gift bag from End of the Leash!

Snowball is a fun-loving bunny boy and has been at HAWS eighteen months.
While everyone here is head-over-heels in love with Snowball, we would much rather see him in a loving forever home!
He loves people, especially ones who will pet him. :) For adoption info, please call HAWS at 262.542.8851.
Cider came to HAWS as a stray. We don't know much about her background, but we believe her to be about 7 years young and a Pit Bull mix.
Cider is a sweet little girl. She spent time with the Winter Kids 'N Critters Camp - and everyone had a blast! The wonderful volunteers in HAWS' Mod Squad have also been working with her and say she is smart and eager to learn.
Cider should do well with another dog, but not so much with cats!!
As long as the weather cooperates, Lakeland will be at the Mukwonago EOTL this Friday, January 10th AND Saturday, January 11th between 11am-3pm.
Stop in to meet sweet adoptables who may be your new best friends!
Change in Nail Clinic dates--please note!
Saturday, January 18th is the monthly Pewaukee Nail Clinic! Stop by the store between 10am-2pm. Klips by Kate from New Berlin will be providing the nail service.
The nail clinics are usually on the second Saturday of every month, however Kate had some date conflicts so February and March's will be on the 15th of the month.
Thanks for visiting :)
