Looking for creative ways to treat your furry friend this summer? Try these ideas to keep them cool all summer long.

Take a center bone (one that is an appropriate size for your dog) and fill it with your favorite canned dog food. A snack bag with the corner cut off works well for this step. Then, once filled, put the stuffed bone into another snack bag and put it in the freezer. Leave the treat in the freezer until it is completely frozen, then serve to your happy dog!

Another great idea can be made using our Treat Trays. These silicone trays can be used for freezing or baking. For cool summer treats, use these trays to fill with canned dog food or the prepackaged Freezy Pup mix. Also try freezing some fruit (pet-friendly ones!) for those hot summer days.

A Couple Pet Safety Tips...

As always, Dr. Becker has excellent reminders for us when it comes to our pet's safety. Here are two helpful articles--one for kitty owners and one for dog owners.

Poor Stuart is still waiting for his new “people” to come pick him up!  Stuart is a very outgoing 2 year old kitty who is the best of both worlds.  He loves to snuggle and purrs like a lion.  He even likes to ride on your shoulders.  At the same time he LOVES to play.  He loves to play so much that sometimes he gets carried away and starts to use his mouth to nibble, so we wouldn’t recommend small children but a playful feline friend would be perfect!  Please stop by HAWS today to meet Stuart!

Lakeland's 10th Annual Adopt-a-thon--THIS WEEKEND

  • Friday, June 13th from 4-8pm
  • Saturday, June 14th from 11am-6pm

Lakeland Animal Shelter, 3551 State Road 67, Delavan, WI 53115

From Lakeland's website:

Are you looking for a furry friend or two?  We currently have more than 300 homeless animals in our care with at least 150 of them currently available for adoption. Our Adopt-a-thon event might be your perfect opportunity to find a new companion to add to your family.  Come join us on Friday, June 13th from 4pm to 8pm or Saturday, June 14th from  11am to 6pm to meet some of our many adoptable animals.  This include kittens, cats, puppies and dogs as well a few bunnies too!  We will be offering $25 off regular adoption fees from now until the June 14th as well as “name your own fee” adoption fees for all cats that are 3 years of age and older.

If you love animals but can’t adopt at this time we still love to have you visit us and perhaps bring one of the much needed items of our wish list.  Your monetary donation would also be appreciated and don’t forget the option to support us by sponsoring an animal as well.

Please note that in order to be eligible for the reduced adoption fees you must have an adopter profile submitted no later that Friday June 13th.

ALSO--can't make it to Lakeland this weekend?  Stop by EOTL Mukwonago on Saturday, June 14th between 11am-2pm to meet some of their adoptabes!

Hope your week has been paws-itively great!
