How to know if your cat is constipated and how to treat it

Dr. Karen Becker touches on an unfortunately common problem in kitties--constipation--in her article, "The Most Common Cause of Kitty Constipation."

She says:

Not every constipated cat strains or cries in the litter box, or vomits, or stops eating, though those are all also signs of constipation. In fact, some poor kitties are constipated most of their lives and their owners don't know it because they aren't aware of the more subtle signs that point to a problem. I have had many guardians tell me, "It's normal for my cat to only poop every third day." I disagree. Expelling bowel toxins on a daily basis is an important part of the natural detoxification process.

We still have a few appointments available for animal communication!

  • WHO: Carolee Biddle of Animal Connections
  • WHEN: March 28th from 10am-2pm
  • WHERE: End of the Leash Mukwonago

We are pleased to announce Carolee Biddle will be offering animal communication at our Mukwonago store starting March 28th.  To schedule your appointment, please call us at 262-363-3338.  Carolee also is a Reiki Master, and if enough interest is shown she may offer Reiki sessions as well. Please give us a call to let us know of your interest so we can pass that on to her!

Carolee was trained and mentored by Rebecca Moravec, and she is who Rebecca referred her clients to when her health interfered with her ability to accept appointments.  We are honored and excited to have her join us.

Please give her a Like on her Animal Communications Facebook page and check out her website at www.animal-connections.com!

This Week's Adoptables from HAWS

The lucky family that adopts one of the pets featured here on our blog will receive a coupon from HAWS good for a “congratulations” gift bag from End of the Leash!

To learn more about how to adopt through HAWS, please visit their adoption page.  You may also give them a call at 262.542.8851.

Alice is a 3-year-old Brussels Griffon Mix who came to HAWS as a stray. If you are looking for a companion that is playful and full of life, Alice is your gal! We think it is important that if Alice goes to a home with kids, they should be at least teens so they are able to read her signals. She would be comfortable in a home without cats but possibly okay with a small, relaxed dog.

Forest is a 3-year-old Domestic Short Hair who came to HAWS as a stray.  Is your home available that he could branch out? If so, he would make a great addition to any family. His sweet disposition and handsome looks will catch anyone's eye.

Happy spring equinox...a day early!
